Chateau Royal d’Amboise, France – CsF

I travelled to the Loire Valley region of France in 2021 to take part in a Charpentiers sans Frontières project, to re-create the half-cone apse roof frame at the chapel of the Chateau Royale d'Amboise. This was the seat of the French monarchy in the 13th and 14th centuries. The chapel we were helping to restore was the private chapel of the king and queen, and inside it is the tomb of none other than Leonardo da Vinci, who was invited to the court of King François the 1st and lived and worked there for the final years of his life.
