Octagonal Frame

We worked closely with the client (a visual artist) to design an octagonal frame for a meditation room. After many design iterations we chose a frame that featured kiln-dried black cherry "gusset" bracing that created a pattern of curving arches, which will be complemented by arch-top windows in each wall. We echoed those gussets in the roof framing as well, and decided on a complex "spiral interlocking" pattern where each of the eight rafters shares the peak.
